2006 Lists and Guides
December 22, 2006
- Popular Science has their Best of What's New for 2006 list, with their innovation of the year going to the HurriQuake nail, a barbed and spiralled nail that improves its grip and stability in extreme conditions. Good to see the OLPC made their list, as well as the Bugatti Veyron.
- Time magazine has their Best Inventions of 2006 list, with YouTube winning their Invention of the Year crown.
- Popular Mechanics has their Wish List for 2007 list, with gadgets, games, outdoor gear and more. That Kawasaki Vulcan 1600 Mean Streak is rather swanky, too.
- Ars Technica has their Holiday Gift Guide for 2006, and in true Ars fashion there's tonnes of great stuff here, in Gaming, Gadgets, Hardware, Journals and Staff Selection sections. Somebody buy me a robot vaccuum cleaner, please?
- Popular Mechanics also has a short article on 10 Tech Concepts You Need to Know for 2007. Bendable Concrete and Phase-Change Random Access Memory look particularly interesting.
- IGN has their monster Best of 2006 guide, with an array of sections for all the games, movies, tv, music, comics, cars and sports stuff from the year that was. Their sports section is completely US-focused, but the Giugiaro Mustang winning their Best Concept of 2006 lets them off the hook.
